Lead casts of the film “Bilay” were on the limelight as they clinched two acting awards during the 6th Urduja Film Festival (UFF) awards show at the Sison Auditorium, Lingayen Pangasinan last October 16.
The Rural Echo Editor-in-Chief Edrell Cabatbat won the Best Actor tilt after playing the lead role of Kaloy in the said film who reflects a teenager’s struggles in escaping from his impoverished life situations.
Also starred the awards night was SHS Teacher Karren Diaz who was proclaimed as Senior Best Actress in her role as the mother of Kaloy in the same film.
Directed by Hannah Thea De Guzman, the film similarly took home the night’s title of 3rd Best Film among 28 official film entries commissioned by the UFF, which is one of the most prestigious award giving bodies in filmmaking across the country.
The rest of the members of the production team of “Bilay” were also proud of their team’s success since this is their first time to join such filmmaking endeavor. “This is our stepping stone. Indeed, country’s future film industry shines bright for us young filmmakers. Mabuhay ang pelikulang Pilipino!” they exclaimed.
