SEPNAS writer and The Rural Echo Associate Editor Hannah Thea De Guzman championed the National Statistics Month (NSM) Provincial Essay Writing Contest held at the Palaris Bldg., Capitol Complex, Lingayen, Pangasinan last October 10. After which, she placed 1st runner up in the regional level held at Department of Agriculture Region I Office, La Union last October 18.

With the theme “Data Innovation: Key to a Better Nation”, De Guzman proved her writing prowess and bested five other contestants from the divisions of Pangasinan I, Pangasinan II, Urdaneta City, Alaminos City, and Dagupan City during the provincial level. In the regionals, she defeated essayists from Ilocos Norte and La Union.

“Being adjudged as the provincial champion in my first time of joining this competition, I thank the SCC Division and the Provincial Government of Pangasinan for giving me this opportunity to showcase my writing abilities to the whole Region 1,” De Guzman said. “Of course, this achievement is for the whole SEPNAS family who molded me into this kind of achiever,” she added.

Meanwhile, TRE Editor-in-Chief Edrell Cabatbat continued to soar high in the Provincial NSM Oratorical Competition as he landed second. The third spot in the jingle singing contest was also clinched by Jamaine Aizel Hangsitang, Judy Hannah Posadas, Alona Gutierrez, Anthony Martinez, Dutchess Angeles, Allen John Fernandez and Nicole Ann Baylon. The SEPNAS’ essayist, orator and jingle team were trained by Ms. Rosemarie Dela Cruz, Mrs. Edna De Guzman and Mr. Elton Martin De Leon respectively.
